Dencandy
Try another ISP & see if you get the same problem. If you do, you might have a modem problem; if you don't, the current ISP isn't giving you enough bandwidth, or something like that, so change to the new one. deuces wild
What type of internet connection are you using (dial up, cable, DSL) and do you have cable TV with the same provider?I only ask because we were having the same problem with our internet cable and the provider determined it was due to a couple of bad pieces of hardware (connectors) on the TV cable connection (we get TV cable from them also). Bobby
We use cable for internet with download speeds around 9500 kb/s
Dencandy
Are you using IE7? If so there's a Windows Support Page which you can get here. If you go down the page there's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide. Some people have found they can only solve their IE7 problems by uninstalling it and then downloading and re-installing it again. But usually if the problem is with IE7 you get the message "IE7 has run into problems and needs to close". If the line is being dropped it still might be the ISP. Another possibility is if you have recently installed a new firewall - there may be a compatability problem. Are you using the Windows firewall, or a third-party one? Dencandy
So bearing in mind what deuces wild says above, I'd contact your cable/internet provider and see what they say about it.
deuces wild
Yes i doWeird as it may seem...........some bad cable tv connectors or a bad cable tv wire may be the cause of your problem as the system (TV and internet) cycle cycle through the same wiring (as explained to me by my cable guy).Prior to calling the cable company you may also want to swap out our internet cable modem to see if that is the culprit..........or try to reboot it by unplugging it for a minute, then repowering it. Bobby
We recently replaced the modem and it was doing the same thing. And all the connections are as good as could be.
deuces wild
How do you know? The cable company has a special meter they test the connections with for noise.Anyway, I have tried to offer some help on this problem as we just went through the same thing. As you do not want to take the advice I will now bow out of this thread.

Bobby
Yes it was. for awhile it seemed fine but then it started dropping out more often
Dencandy
Have you contacted the cable company yet? My guess is that something in the hardware set-up is causing this problem to recur almost as soon as you've fixed it.
