Adding to DVD RW

Is it possible to add further files (movies) to an already recorded DVD RW ? Or do I have to wipe the DVD RW and record the whole project again with the new files.

I use Nero as my movie software if thats needed

I would think yes, try it.

At the end of the process, it said, " the disc is not empty, do you want to erase and re write it"..seems

i cant do it ..Will have to re do the whole project.

Just tick no you don't want to erase and it should add it, I think as that is how it works with CD's.

Does it say "Rewritable" anywhere on the DVD or the container?

You can certainly add to non rewritable C.D's, I do it regularly. You just select the option to allow this before the actual burning process. So I can't see any reason why you can't do what you want. :D

With Nero (4) it processes movie, then when ready to burn it to the DVD rw it comes up with the window,

" the disc is not empty, do you want to erase and re write it"..

There isnt a tick box, its a yes or no. So having said no, it aborts the process.

Any ideas anyone ?

May be best to buy some more dvd rw's, import the recorded dvd and then put the movie I am struggling with on that. In any case I need some more DVDs and I bought this one the other day on ebay but didnt realise it was only 2x burn speed. It has I think effected the quality. The vids sometimes freeze, and the music I have put in the back ground is intermittant.

You might want to have a look at Alan's thread regarding multi session discs. In my experience a disc cannot be read until the session is ended, and the disc becomes 'full' when the disc is ended.

Thankyou SCM, again you have been very helpful...I will bin my Tesco (your walmart) DVD rw and go out and buy some TDK or Sony..

Just for info I have re done the whole project. Everything has gone ok but im a bit disappointed with the sound quality of the tracks I have attached to the project. They were Itunes (M4p files).

You're buying shiney coasters by buying cheap brand CD or DVD's. They aren't worth the plastic they are made from. Spend a few extra dollars and get some good quality discs. You won't be disappointed.

If you are looking for a video editing software, I recently came across a program called AVIDemux which is great. It's Open Source and multi platform (Windows, Linux, Mac) and I have used it to edit a video clip for a presentation I did.
