Coreper
yesterday, i was working on my computer a bit: typing in word, browsing internet with IEthat all worked out finebut this morning i turned on my computer, and it wouldnt boot!when i tried to restart my computer, i kept getting this bluescreen, which said something, but i wasnt able of reading it: it disappears way to fasti know it wasnt a memory error, since i know how a memory bluescreen looks like [with error code and all...]so, i inserted my windows xp pro disc, and started the windows xp pro recovery consolei used chkdsk to check my C: disk for errors: and it found some errors [it said: one or more]so i fixed the errors, restarted my computer, and found out it is working perfectly againso i was wondering:how can my harddisk get "corrupted" all of a sudden, when it was working perfectly the evening before??i shut down my like i always do, and even turned my power supply to Off, like i always doi really dont understand how this could happen...the harddisk also isnt that old: its about 2.5 years old [probably less]
Scarecrow Man
Check your event log for recent errors.start > run > eventvwrThis should show the error code which may shed some light on why this happened.
Coreper
thankswhen i look at the system error log, i noticed these are common errors:UnlockerDriver5: it appears almost a 1000 times [im not exagerating]content:Kan beschrijving voor gebeurtenis-ID (54) in bron (UnlockerDriver5) niet vinden. Scarecrow Man
I doubt DCOM entries have anything to do with a failing drive. I am unaware what this 'UnlockerDriver5' is though. Is this a piece of software you have installed on your computer?Neither one of these are the memory dump from the crash. Look for the exact time the crash occurred and see if there is a log entry similar to what you see on the blue screen error message.

Dencandy
so i was wondering:how can my harddisk get "corrupted" all of a sudden, when it was working perfectly the evening before??i shut down my like i always do, and even turned my power supply to Off, like i always doi really dont understand how this could happen...the harddisk also isnt that old: its about 2.5 years old [probably less]Harddisks usually do deteriorate gradually over time, sector by sector, for a variety of reasons. Even CheckDisk will only mark a sector as corrupted once it's reached a certain level. It's a good idea to make running Checkdisk as part of a regular maintenance schedule (say monthly or three-monthly) rather than only when things go wrong. Coreper
first of all: i had a look around, and UnlockerDriver5 is part of Unlocker software, which i have on my computeri never had any problems with that program, so i dont think that is what caused the harddisk errorsand second: my computer never crashed: i just shut it down normally, but when i tried to boot it the next day, i got bluescreensand i fixed that by doing a CHKDSK via the windows xp pro cd recovery consolei uploaded the error logs here: http://www.speedyshare.com/798646773.htmlis it possible to make a shortcut to the CHKDSK command on my desktop, by making a shortcut like this: "C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe" -chkdsk ? Dencandy
is it possible to make a shortcut to the CHKDSK command on my desktop, by making a shortcut like this: "C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe" -chkdsk ?That I don't know, perhaps someone else does. I imagine you could set it up as a scheduled task though.
