Kratos03 Posted April 18, 2008 Report Share Posted April 18, 2008 I have a question for all of you out there....I have a computer running WinXP and was wondering if upgrading to Vista would be a good idea as of this point in time? To answer a couple questions before they crop up, I most likely will be doing a clean install of either xp or vista, my current installation has a few driver problems due to when I upgraded my pc. I would appreciate some honest opinions based on a gaming system and performance. You could do a Search on Vista in this forum to find out what most members think about Vista (in general, most - but not all - don't think very much of it). Also read this highly critical report from extremetech.Also you could search in your search engine using something like "Vista + Reviews" to get a full spectrum of views. Actually, I don't think Vista was intended to be "the future" for MS. I think it was just an interim product to pretend they were doing something new while they worked on OS8, due out by the end of the decade. Rather wait two more weeks; SP3 is said to dramatically improve XP performance.... vista, but it is what Microsoft has in mind for the future.I don't think so; Windows 7 (Vienna) is the future! I have been thinking about it for a while now and I guess it comes down to it, there are only 2 real arguments for me to get Vista. Is DX10 worth upgrading for and are the Vista Only "Games for Windows," worth it. Other then that, it is hard for me to have a huge want for Vista when XP is such a fast and stable system. I know it is all on me for the final say, but do you guys have any opinions on what you would do? Again, thanks for the input, it's nice to have. -pops- Posted April 18, 2008 Report Share Posted April 18, 2008 I would never change a Windows operating system - upgrade or downgrade on any machine. From past experiences, it so often fails to come up to expectation.Another point is that I've built a few Vista machines for others - there isn't anything in that O/S which would inspire me to go to the expense of a change in my own machines.
