Cant fix the start menu

Can you not just restore down instead of maximising, so that you still have the start menu beneath your window?

yes I can, but the user who is on the the computer 95% of the time does not like workarounds. windows should not function this way, fix it! is what he says.

It should stay above

It should, and that's how it was. I think he means that he still wants to see the taskbar when the window is maximised.

Have you tried re-sizing the task bar, right click the taskbar/untick lock the taskbar/position your mouse pointer on top of the taskbar, it will change to a double arrowed bar then drag it downwards.

If that works do not forget to relock the taskbar.
