ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I installed the new Windows Installer, did the required reboot, then installed a few things that use the Windows Installer, such as the latest version of the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer. All went well - no problems
-pops-
All done, no problems but I've not used it yet.
Irene
Pat, would this be for a standard user, such as myself?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
This is up to you. The new Installer Distributable contains several new features, and if a new application comes along that uses these features during the install, then you will need this new distributable. However, I am sure it will be a while until anybody really needs it; sooner or later it will be pushed via Microsoft Update. So it is really up to you if you want to install it now or later; eventually you will get it anyway. The longer you wait, the more likely you will avoid any potential trouble. For more details what's in the new installer: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/942288
