Sbrideau Posted June 9, 2008 Report Share Posted June 9, 2008 Hi, I have recently made a clean windows install (Windows XP Media Center Edition), but when I try to put the computer on standby, it immediately comes right back on as showing everything on the screen back etc.I have no idea what might be causing this, but I think it's worth noting that Housecall got me rid of an adware after the reinstall. (had scanned with Kaspersky as well, but it could not find the virus itself, just the part injected in the restore points.Sometimes takes a bit of time (i.e. 30 mins) to come back on though.Any thoughts on what's happening? If you need system specs I'll give them, although I'm not sure that's important here :P Thank you guys in advance.The only reason I would like to stop this from happenning is that I often watch TV on the computer and I put it on standby for the night so I don't have to get out of bed and start the computer to watch the TV. -pops- Posted June 10, 2008 Report Share Posted June 10, 2008 I don't know a lot about the stand-by option except that I've never been able to successfully set it up.There seem to be a number of possible configurations (wake up on ring, wake up on LAN and so on) so a check amongst those might be the answer. Sbrideau Posted June 11, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 11, 2008 Well, I can't tell since it's only been a day, but since I went to the BIOS, maybe saving the things like they were again did it, it stayed on standby all day when I was at work :D.
