danezeq Posted June 23, 2008 Report Share Posted June 23, 2008 The boot is ok.After loging in to windows it loads the task-apps (like anti-virus and messenger)some of the startup apps stuck for a minute (dont run or cant connect to the internet) until i hear a load noise from the FLOPPY drive.after that sound - suddenly the rest of apps start and the other that already started before - connect.What cause that stuck?(i have this problem for years)and yes - the floppy is empty. If this is the case it would be a case of trawling through your start-up sequence and killing each one. then re-starting it. For example if you had an application that last saved to the floppy, it may be trying to access it. Try using Winstart. This lists all the programs that load on start-up. winstart. Please post on how you get on.IMPORTENT DETAIL:The floppy is not the reason for the stuck.sometimes the floppy tries to load (load noise+LED) and THEN comes the stuck.one more importent detail:While windows stuck - desktop is active (i can move icons etc..) but the sub menus on start menu are stuck. If it is installed backwards (it plugs in both ways) it can cause an endless loop trying to read. Chances are there is some software trying to access the drive, such as an anti-virus program or something similar.Since floppy drives are so rarely used, you can disable it in the BIOS. Follow instructions from your motherboard manufacturer on how to disable the drive. Most BIOS programs require you to press DEL while the computer starts up to enter the BIOS.
