Agent Smith
Good evening TERBOW, if you just wish to remove the partition, the you can use fdisk from a windows98 boot disc. However, I am assuming that you wish to then resize another partition to use the space, in which case I would recommend Partion Magic . The current version is not free , but I am sure they are giving away an older version on the front of a current magazine, but I cannot remember which one at the moment. As with any partition tools, always remember to back up your important data before you try anything! Hope this info is of use. Regards, Mr. Mouse.
BurrWalnut
Sorry to gatecrash your topic but I have a similar partition question.I have 98SE on C (15Gb) and my data on D (30Gb). Using Fdisk and Format can I remove D and split it into D and E, 15Gb each without affecting Windows on C?Thank you
Agent Smith
Hello BurrWalnut, yes it is possible to do as you request, but you would lose all the data you currently have on your D drive. You would need to copy the data elsewhere first. Also if you did have any software installed to this drive, it would need to be reinstalled. As above, always ensure you have any important data backed up safely (off the machine) before you start. Also particularily with fdisk, make sure you know exactly what it is you want to do, and how your drive is currently partitioned. Check out this site Fdisk explained for further info.Hope this info helps. Regards, Mr. Mouse.
BurrWalnut
Thanks for replying Mr Mouse.I'm familiar with Fdisk and Format but have never used them when an OS is installed on the HD.Also, no problems with backing up, I'm paranoid about losing data and make many copies.
