Microsoft updates.

Recommended Posts

The wife was on her computer (XP Home) and the shield for automatic updates came up so she let them install automatically, after the reboot the broadband would not connect.

I checked ipconfig and everything seemed OK, so I did a system restore to the day before and everything was back to normal.

Then the little shield appeared again with 3 updates (KB951748, KB951978 & KB890830), so I had a look to see what they were and installed them again and after reboot they broadband had gone walkabouts again.

After another system restore it is back to normal.

Has anyone else had any problems with any of these updates.

If it was not for her games she would be on Linux as well.

After reading this thread I updated my computer. There were NO problems whatsoever. I have checked access for all my security programs, again with no problems. There was a very large update for A Squared, again with no problems. Maybe you lot have upset Uncle Bill. :D

andsome Uncle Bill like your best friend B Liar has deserted the sinking ship. :D

I checked the firewall (ZA) and it made no difference, so I have just blocked those downloads.

This is not the first time Microsoft updates have caused this to happen, yet SP3 did not cause any problems.
