I can do it as above, but previously I could click the green link button, then right click and paste the page URL into the space and click OK. I then saw highlighted in blue, VISIT MY WEB PAGE. At this point I could type anything that I wanted such as HERE, or How about this then, and click OK again. Whatever I had typed would then appear underlined as a link. :D

Thanks for your help, but I never understand these pink code messages. Is it possible to explain in layman's terms please? Also I wonder why this has suddenly happened, could it be yesterdays updates, which have had no other visible affect? :D

The easiest way to link back to forum topics or posts is to use the Quick Access menu on the left. Use 'Insert: Topic Link' to link to a topic number, or 'Insert: Post Link' to link directly to a specific post number.

This will keep forum links intact, even if we move (again) to another domain name (e.g. Neoplanet)

I am thinking more of links to outside topics, e.g. newspapers etc. Until now, I have always been able to use the method that I outlined above. I can still create links, but they now have to show the URL concerned, I can no longer enter my own wording.

This is an example of what I mean here. Look at his link.

It works OK for me....

I just over-typed the highlighted 'Visit my website' with the above.

Actually I perfectly don't see what the problem is...

  1. click on the 'Insert Link' button
    post-1524-1215681182_thumb.png
  2. overtype or paste your address and click OK
    post-1524-1215681227_thumb.png
  3. now you get the second part
    post-1524-1215681283_thumb.png
  4. overtype or paste your link text and click OK
    post-1524-1215681326_thumb.png
  5. and get this: my link text

I don't see any difference to before...?

This is exactly what I do, as before. Now however when I type over the highlighted Visit My website, the words that I type show in my post.

I get this text showing that I have just typed over the blue messageVisit My Website

Try highlighting the 'Visit My Website' before over-typing.

I still don't understand... why don't you just overtype 'Visit my Website'...?

As I said above this is EXACTLY what I have alway done. Now the words that I am typing appear in the text instead of the little box.

Here is a similar example as above. I will over type the highlighed visit my website, and the words will appear in the text on the post. I will type Look at this.

Look at thisVisit My Website

I see now, but I cannot reproduce this. It must be an Internet Explorer problem, as I use Firefox. :flowers:

Everything was working as before until the day that I posted. I have no way of knowing whether it is a result of the latest MS updates. I have no intention of uninstalling them, if it cannot be solved i will just have to put up with it. :D
