Fn key on the keyboard??

I presume that Fn stands for function, but what and how exactly do you use it?

Wiki says THIS.

I've tried holding it down and touching other keys with blue characters, but nothing happens.

I assume this is your laptop. I don't use one of those but I do use a multimedia keyboard where the equivalent of Fn is F Lock which lies immediately to the right of F12 on this keyboard (an oldish natural "split" keyboard) on another F Lock is with the cluster of PrtScn/Pause etc.

On my laptop you hold the Fn key down to activate the volume up and down buttons plus some other hardware related adjustments.

Yes Alan, that is what I would have expected.

Perhaps I'll need to try again - I'm running an AVG scan on it at present.

The Fn key is probably colour coded. When you depress this key, the keys that are colour coded the same way become active. Things like volume control, brightness, external monitor, etc. can be adjusted.

That is exactly what I thought, but it didn't appear to work.

I'll try again soon and post back my findings. B)
