This Blue Screen of Death

I have attached an image of my BSOD to this thread. I did a lot of research before posting this. I searched this forum and found one of Irene's post giving a link to this place. I went through all the steps on that page, and they didn't help too much. This Stop message occurs when I open a sort-of-resource-using game or program, but the way it happens is very random. I can be on the computer for 10 hours straight opening this certain game or program with no problems, and it's like my PC goes, "Alright, on this exact second, on this exact moment, I'm going to choose to give a Stop message this time the program gets opened. Tomorrow, I will choose to do it again, except at a different point in time." It's extremely difficult to pinpoint this problem.

I also found out that this particular Stop message I'm getting is a 0x00000050, a.k.a. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. This shows up when data is requested in memory, but that data isn't there. This kind of doesn't make sense, since it happens so god damn randomly. Can someone please shine some light on my problem here? I'd be most grateful.

As this happens after a long period in use, it may be that something is not making proper connection inside the case and, after sufficient warming up, becomes disconnected. It could be memory, added cards (including graphics card) hard drive connections and so on.

In the first instance, assuming this is a desktop machine I suggest opening the case and tracing all the cables from the power supply unit to their destination and ensuring they are fully pushed home and that all other connections into PCI slots, memory slots - everything are secure.

I'm not very familiar with laptops but try a similar procedure, as far as you can, if you have a laptop machine.

DO NOT DO THIS WITH THE MACHINE POWERED UP.

Hello Zippy, welcome to Windows Forum. :flowers:

There are one or two suggestions in the following link... http://www.microsoft.com/technet.

Towards the bottom of the User Action, it mentions running a chkdsk. Just take a look at the instructions accompaying the suggestion.

If you don't have any success, they say..

For more troubleshooting information about this Stop message, refer to the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com/support.

Please let us know how you get on.

It's always useful for others with similar problems. :)
