jay
After getting rid of XP 2008 virus I then got 2009 version trying to load. I didn't load it but the installer was persistent. I finally got rid of this too, but now I am left with an extremely erratic PC. I can't get my printer to work and tried to uninstall it but when I click on uninstall the system shuts down and restarts. Other thing cause this too and the system is very unreliable. I am reluctant to use the Reload CD which would take it back to "out of box" condition! Any ideas please? :(
-pops-
Assuming you don't have a full system backup:Are you able to do a System Restore to a time before this happened? Can you do a Repair installation? When you are back to normal, can I suggest that you look into making a full backup of your computer and, just as important, keep it up to date. catgate
Knoppix is a version of Linux which will run from your CD drive without interfering with your hard drive. It will obviously use you RAM and processor, but will allow you to fiddle with your HD without opening up your normal OS..............in theory.I have not tried it but it has been widely recommended as a procedure on this forum and elsewhere. Seshomaru Samma
Knoppix will allow to save files from any OSKnoppix is an OS (based on Linux) which you boot from your CD (or USB) ,it will give you access to your HDYou can use it if your OS does not boot or is extremely slow If , however, your Windows is stable enough to save your important files before you start a repair install then you need not bother with Knoppix (though its always good to a Knoppix CD for emergencies)
