Installing a wireless card

It says on your link "System Requirements Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP". So providing you have a spare expansion slot available and you are not running Vista you may be OK.

Nope! With only 1 GB of RAM, It's not even worth putting Vista on it, let alone that I'm not a fan of Vista.

But I'm a software guy, not hardware. Is there any specs I should look at? With RAM it's DDR vs DDR2 and Mhz, with Hard Drives it's RPM and SATA vs IDE, is there anything with wireless cards?

Not really a great deal of spec on these things to look for, as long as it fits in your laptop, lets you set the security to the same as your router (WEP or WPA) then it should be fine, just check which settings your router has and you should be fine, also check for wireless B/G/N on your router and make sure the card supports whichever the router broadcasts in!

Easy peasy!
