Mouse problems

whenever i'm using the mouse, it is contantly jumping across the screen. it will usually dart to the extreme corners of the screen. is there a way to correct this, or am i cursed?

Can you tell us what OS you are using and the type of mouse (radio,IR, etc). It certainly sound like alot of fun.

There is some "joke" software called Crazy Mouse that causes effects like this. Perhaps a "friend" has loaded this into your machine.

When someone did this to me it showed in add/remove programs. :D

You can get a similar effect if you have two rodents connected at the same time or a mouse and a graphics pad in which the stylus is not parked properly.

yeah, i scanned for malware and everything, but it still does it. i'm on XP Pro with a corded optical mouse.

Have you looked in add/remove programs? Also have you done Start/Search/Crazy Mouse. ? :D

What sort of mouse pad do you use? if a patterned one try one that is plain and see if it still does it, a piece of paper will do.

If the mouse is wireless try a new battery.

i changed mouse pads to an all black one, and that cleared it up. i would never have thought that a mouse pad would be freaking out the mouse. thanks (rong) for all of your help and suggestions.
