Screen full of small arrows using Windows Media Player

I decided some weeks ago to try the new BS Player and I downloaded the free version. I have used it a few times and some days ago I used WMP as well for a videoclip from my computer (avi or mpeg) and my screen was permanently full of small arrows. I have unistalled BSPlayer and WMP11 (back to WMP10), then installed WMP11 again but no difference for my files when played with WMP. The same files have no 'arrow problem' when I open them with my AVS Player, therefore the problem comes from WMP which is corrupted in some way (is this a consequence of a 'war' between player manufacturers?)

Any suggestion to get rid of my arrows? I would like to continue using WMP because I thing image is better than AVS...

Now that you have uninstalled AVS, how about running C Cleaner to get rid of all the rubbish left behind.

When the page opens up, have a look down it for OTHER VERSIONS, and download the Lite version. If this is not evident on the site, then download in the normal way, but when installing, UN TICK the option to install either the Google or Yahoo tool bar, (I forget which is offered). Before running it for the first time open the program up and click on OPTIONS/COOKIES. Any log on cookies showing on the left window should be dragged across to the right window. This will save loosing log on cookies. The program is VERY highly recommended by the forum users. :D

My apologies. I was in a bit of a hurry, and did not check the page that opened up. I have now corrected my post. Another thing to try, is to go to Start/Search and look for anything listed for B S Player and delete any remaining folder or files, then re boot after running C Cleaner again. Worth a try. After that I'm stumped. :D

I do not think so because I have not modified whatever I had.

My PC is now under repair for a hardware problem . As soon as I get it back i'll try to fix this matter.

I think I have deleted everything related to BS Player and I find no difference. But there is a new input: the arrows appear only when I play avi files, not with mpeg (or DVD) files. Those avi files come from my recordings + virtualdub editing-

After going back for a while to WMP version 10 and back to 11 many of my music files are lost (!!) I've tried to update my WMP but I get the prompt that there is no update for my version :(

I have found the reason: when I edit my recordings I get normal avi files if I use Mpegvideocodec V2 instead of V3 for compression. I suppose V3 codec is corrupted and I should reinstall my VirtualDUb. My problem now is to recover all my damaged avi files because if I edit them again probably quality will be poor.
