I have had this program for about 6 years and paid for it.

Recently got an advice that they would not give me a free upgrade this time around and an attractive discount to upgrade so paid for this on 19th September. Downloaded the new version and waited the two days they said for upgrade paid to be installed.

Still waiting - have put in a work ticket but all I get is 'Work in Practice"

Program is fine working etc but nag screen is nagging me.

Anyone else in this pickle

Here it is 9th November and checking Cyberscrub support they are still "work in progress" on my having paid for an update service on 17.9.08 and not got it

They had the nag screen on for about 3 months or more to start with when My subscription expired.

Guess no one on here uses this program?

what to do - I have today put in another email on the ticket no saying how long does it take!

What does it actually do? I currently have difficulties accessing Google (for the first time in my life), so I can't look it up.

This describes it - I paid only $14.90AU for upgrade.

You can do a 30 day trial.

When I got it 6 yrs back programs like CCleaner were not around and it probably does the job better and for free. Can do 3 overpasses etc.

cyber scrub is they used by US D of Defence and Justice etc to keep their files secure.

I really only use it still because they say it can wipe the free spaces where deleted files sit - and we think have gone but not really. I mean do they really have programs that can recover all your deleted date and emails or is that just fiction in spy novels?

I never have to de frag btw maybe due to using this - who knows? Not me :lol:

Anyway if in future we are going to be censored in Australia by PM Rudd and not able to opt out - maybe needed.

they are talking about banning sites they think may be subversive etc - like opposition political parties - well they are getting worried about that anyway.

Yeah, I don't think you need it; as you say, CCleaner probably can do most of it for free. If they don't deliver what you have paid for, contact your credit card company to get the money back. (Unless you paid by another method, which may be much more difficult or impossible.)

I paid by my internet credit card(low limit) via another site. I have contacted them asking if Cyberscrub is still operating etc and they have said yes.

If I dont get somewhere soon will do as you advise and hope for the best. :D

Now do you know anything about Download Accelerator?

I also bought their program back then - 6 years or so ago and they too have said life payment now needs an upgrade but due to above - haven't paid the $14.95US they have asked for - now Au$ is only worth around 69c. Their paid version is great and very fast(x4) and new version is faster (x5) they say but I don't want the ads that come with the free version. :D

Can go on with paid for version but no updates for both

I have never used any download accelerator, and I don't think that I need one. My broadband connection is fast enough B)

If you want a free download accelerator, have a look at Orbit. I've been using it since a recent reformat and it seems to do the trick.

I needed it when on dial up - now on 1500/256 which is fastest broadband available to date in my area.

It actually downloads 4 files at once - must be part of some such and marry them back together and can resume and schedule for off peak if on that plan etc. Nifty.

New version does 5 at a time.

I installed Free Download Manager (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm) about two months ago and have found it the easiest to use of several that I've tried over the years. It is simple to configure and integrates seamlessly with both Internet Explorer and Firefox. It will also save Flash videos (YouTube, etc) easily. You can also resume downloading without loss of data if your connection is broken for any reason.

The site only gets an orange rating with McAfee SiteAdvisor though because of some past adware that was included. However it appears to be completely adware free now as I've checked with several products to make sure.

Of course it's completely free as well with no nag screens etc.

Lamb Chop, I have an old trial version of CyberScrub which I still test occasionally. I've tried running it after using CCleaner and it finds nothing else to clean except the reference to the previous run of CCleaner. I think CCleaner's secure delete features are quite adequate for most ordinary private users. It's also free, of course.
