dm371 Posted November 3, 2008 Report Share Posted November 3, 2008 Hello everybody, i am not very computer savy, but i have a virus problem that i do not know how to fix. The file name is kkk.exe. I have tried numerous programs such as spy bot, register booster, CCleaner, and McAfee virus scan but nothing seems to be working. I even went into safe mode and tried deleting the file but it keeps saying something like "it is unable to process you request" and that "this program is being used by another." Finally, i used the recovery disk on the computer but when i opened my computer C: i still found the kkk folder in the drive. So i am not sure if the recovery did anything at all. catgate Posted November 3, 2008 Report Share Posted November 3, 2008 My suggestion would be for you to go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/ and do a housecall. This is not 101% perfect but it is a very good checking and correcting operation.I would suggest too that you discard Mac Afee, and put in something that works AVG is very good. There are others on WF who have other prefered AV progs. but most are agreed Mac Afee needs dumping.It is a good idea when running AV stuff to stop all background progs. as these do interfer. The important part, as with any other antivirus software, is to keep the virus definitions updated daily.But I agree that Trendmicro Housecall will most likely identify, and hopefully remove, the virus. "Free" download, "free" scan, and "free" removal of some "threats"; serous malware removal requires paid license. Really not my favorite business model! dm371 Posted November 5, 2008 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2008 Thanks to everybody for responding. I have tried http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/ and it was a very long scan. At the end it said that I have 102 threats but that I have to remove them manually. I am going to work on the other comments first before I resort to buying.
