jason.b.c Posted December 9, 2008 Report Share Posted December 9, 2008 http://www.home-network-help.com/ip-forwarding.htmlfollowing these instrutions is rather confusing...i am trying to setup this xp computer as a router/server but am unable to get the internet on that computer , although it is funny though that i have internet on my ubuntu computer (the one i am sending this message on right now..)..the router computer :HP Pavilion 98001 gig amd640 mb's ramonboard eth0 port (not being used)four port pci ethernet router board (being used)my connenction is as follows:internet ==> Sat Modem ==> router board ( the router/server HP )==> This Ubuntu computer...how do i get the router / XP Pro computer online..? and ip fowarding enabled so the ubuntu computer dosen't lose it's connection...? jason.b.c Posted December 10, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 10, 2008 well i'm mostly trying to figure out why my ubuntu machine has internet but the computer it is connected to dosen't ..what i need i think is someone to help guide me through the steps in windows network manager ( i think ) and figure out wich port is wich and why the windows system didn't automaticly pick up the internet signal but allowed it to pass on throught to the other computer...i've tried and tried to figure it out but i must be missing something ... On the Start Menu, select Control Panel > Network Connections. 2. Right-click the appropriate connection name and select Properties. 3. Select TCP/IP Protocol, and then select Properties. 4.
