-pops-
Today's MS update which may well have appeared in your Sys Tray this morning seems to be another one of those MS cock-ups - issued before it was ready. It refused to install on any of my machines and likewise with my son's business computers. From looking around other forums, there are numerous complaints, including one on here http://forums.windowsforum.org/index.php?showtopic=39639Even though it refused to install, it certainly had an impact - in the midst of my first attempt at sending this message, the machine froze and would do nothing at all. A reboot gave about half the desktop icons as the default square box thingy and a very sluggish system. I booted again from cold and decided to do a system restore. I noticed that the update had had an effect on the machine as the installation attempts were listed in the restore box.I've now completed the repairs and have my machine up and running again.Be Warned!!!!!!! If you haven't installed this pestilential update yet, don't. It's not necessary for your machine so if you do want it, wait until a stable version is available. Boris
It worked fine for the one machine I tried it on :)
-pops-
I'm sure a lot of people are finding it OK but I'm equally sure, from the comments made to me and from what I've seen elsewhere, that it is not all good.
Boris
I absolutely agree -pops- - which is why I only tried it on my test machine first
artist
Saw the notification. It had downloaded ok.Saw it was duplicated when the install was half way through. Hit cancel - it didn't want to close........Checked add & remove saw it was there. Removed it - just to be safe.Went back to a restore point and all seems well. The notification is still there. I'll leave it for now I think. May have another go in a day or so.Interestingly, I ran Secunia - it hasn't picked the update up as missing........ andsome
As I mentioned in the other thread, I have had no problems whatsoever with this update. Maybe I'm just lucky. :D
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I had no problems installing it, and all my printers work fine. However, I do have troubles understanding what that update is? 951847 has been issued and installed a long time ago, and it even had two updates (953595, 958484) since. KB951847 has last been updated in August 2008 - so I really don't understand what that yesterday's update was.I will do some investigating.
