Problems down loading

I am having problems down loading from the internet. I have tried to down load a word doc and a csv file, but after clicking down load I get taken back to the same page or the page says I have done it, but the down load box does not appear for me to open the file?

Cheers

There may be a blocker stopping it. When you click the Download button, look at the top of your current tab/window and see if there's a (probably yellow) bar going all the way across saying that the browser stopped something being downloaded.

Click this and there should be an option to allow it. Maybe that's why.

If not, is your internet going slow at all when you download or does it go at a usual decent speed?

No blocker as far as I can see.

Connection is good.

When I click the down load as a link, the page does something like a refresh, but just reverts back to same point. I am also trying to down load a list as a csv file from phplist. I click the button to down load and the page refreshes and says that it's done, but it hasn't, no download box appears. I tried the same thing in phpmyadmin with no luck.

What browser do you use? If it's a tabbed browser like Firefox pr IE7+, then can you try to open the download link in a new tab? What happens?

Can you give us the URL where you try to download from? Sometimes the download document is not available, or on a very slow server.

I am using FF3 and have also tried using stand alone v of IE7

Here is a link I am trying to download from, Down load page.

When following the links, I get taken round in circles from one page to the other and back to the start again. Using IE7 the browser had to shut down. I have tried different mirrors, I am pretty sure it is not to do with their server, as I have not been able to open from any other sites or docs I have received in emails. Do you think I could have deleted a necessary computer file?

I tried opening in a new tab, but get a blank grey page.

Do you know where your downloads go to eg. My documents

I think they go to temp files then I manually move them. Is there a way of specifying where the default location should be?

The answer is yes, but I can't remember how I did it.

I see a different page when I open your link, as it puts up the download box,

I think ever browser is slightly different, I am running FF3

I have a feeling the problem I am experiencing is caused by accidentally deleting a file on my computer??

Does anyone know how to trouble shot this possibility?

Put the installation disc in the drive and stop it from auto running. Click on Start then type sfc /scannow, and click OK. This will check the files and hopefully correct any corrupt or missing ones. Leave a space after sfc as shown. :D

Can I get some more help with this.

I put the the Windows XP CD in - click start - run - and typed sfc /scannow. A dialog box came up asking that I insert the appropriate disk, I retried but got the same box over an over?

I also tried doing a System Restore but I still can not open any down load buttons. It is like the buttons are dead or they try and open but give up?

It is becoming a bit of an annoyance now ...

When the CD starts to auto run and the options appear in a window, close it down with the cross in the upper right corner. Allow a few seconds, then do as I suggested. A small window should then appear saying that Windows will check the system files. Approve this if asked. Stick around in case you are asked to approve any changes, it does not take long. I am assuming that you do have a full system disc. I am not sure whether this will work with restore discs as supplied by far too many manufacturers. Best of luck. :D

Thanks, I got the same box, asking for a CD ROM ?? I had a friend install xp for me and remember something about needing to use a CD ROM but I have about 6 cd's and none of them seem to be what the computer is asking for?

Well anyhow, whilst taking a screen shot of the message boxes to post on the forum I noticed that in the shot there were the download boxes on screen two which I had set to extend on to this monitor eek :P ... lucky I had tried to down load something before hand otherwise I would not have realized that was causing the prblem.

I am able to down load again :D

Cheers everyone
