Hb_Kai
Since I installed XP and took Vista off my laptop I can't seem to install any games at all. I run the autorun.exe and the in-game installers and nothing happens after this. It just carries on like I've not tried clicking anything.I can't think of anything that could be wrong with it so I've tried the Toshiba support forums and they've told me that the L30-101 hasn't been delivered with a Vista OS and the recovery disc is in fact for XP - Which I know isn't true as I've had to use the recovery disc once before and it installed Vista.I use a Toshiba Satellite L30-101 with XP SP3 and Ubuntu 8.10, and I don't want to recover it to Vista and really would like to avoid re-installing XP as it takes about 3-4 hours of downloading and installing updates and newer Service Packs.Another thing which may be a problem too is that when there is a blank disc in the drive I can't open the disc in Windows Explorer and it says D:\ is not accessible.Incorrect Function This to me says it may be a driver problem but I thought I downloaded and installed the right drivers for this from Toshiba, and also thought XP comes with drivers anyway. But because I had to write the game files to a disc I thought it'd work in Ubuntu and it does work in Ubuntu.Does anyone have any ideas because I'm stumped Oh by the way... You won't be helping me with anything illegal because I've downloaded Command an Conquer Red Alert 1 as they're giving it away for free to celebrate 13 years and all the other games I've tried I'm using the proper disc for. y2khardtop
does your CD show up in Device manager??? It is unusual that your CD works installing windows and Ubuntu, but fails once Windows is loaded. Sounds like a driver issue, or some sort of DRM issueOh by the way... You won't be helping me with anything illegal because I've downloaded Command an Conquer Red Alert 1 as they're giving it away for free to celebrate 13 years and all the other games I've tried I'm using the proper disc for. Hb_Kai
I got a bit bored and fed up trying to figure out what was wrong yesterday so got some Panjeet Singh guy from Microsoft UK to take over my computer and he says it's because I don't have the proper decoders on my laptop. In order to fix it I'd need to download and install something like Nero so the drive can tell it's a DVD as XP doesn't come with the proper DVD drivers, only CD.It doesn't work with movies either. As long as they're DVD's.I've downloaded and installed Nero but it's still not working. :( Going to get back to Mr. Singh and get some more help soon I think. :D
