Don't be stupid and anwser it!

When was the last time you changed your password, for, email, Instant messaging, Forums ;-), Online banking anything you can think of that will mean you will have to enter a password?

I'm gussing NEVER. A Good point about this is that you'll never forget it.

Which is good but you should change your password just in case someone is trying to enter one your "accounts".

I'm not here to SCARE you, think of the chances of someone wanting to access something you have access to with a password.

Then think of the chances of them actually guessing the password. But, oh, there'll need the user name first.

Change your password at least once from the orignal that you had in the first place...

Be safe and make a change...

BUT remember to remember the new password!

My basis is don't change it every 60 or 90 days, choose a good one in the first place and keep it secret. KEEP IT SECRET.

Good password: fJkLP754Ng

Bad password : s**g

I cannot suggest highly enough to read 'The art of deception' by Kevin Mitnick.

The last thing that we want in the forum is a thread that starts discussing the hijacking of other forum members' identities. It undermines the confidence of new, or inexperienced members, and we won't tolerate it. That's why I locked it - we're here to run a responsible web forum, offering help with computer problems.

We'll know if anyone assumes another identity, because the server  tracks everyone's logins and posts each time they visit - we can refer to the IP log to see if anyone is masking their identity.

g5&J3"fF!7^ is even better.

mind you, now matter how much we tell the students at college, they all seem to know each others password.

They all use ******** :D :P

Interestingly, we were recently testing out the security for some of our 2K servers, and we were quite chuffed when after some tweaking we managed to protect the passwords to a level that was taking over 24 hours to break them. Untill we found an alternate solution, which with physical access to the machine would get you access in under a minute  :( Just goes to show, make sure the door is locked as well!!
