Thorsenwtf Posted March 5, 2009 Report Share Posted March 5, 2009 I have been continuously failing at installing Adobe CS3 on my computer which is operating on Windows 7.So in order to stop all of this trial and error I was going to just back up my data on my laptop (which would take a very long time) reinstall Vista (ew I know) and then install Adobe CS3 and then reinstall Windows 7 because I know when you upgrade from Vista to Win 7 your programs aren't removed and such. But then I thought of an idea to create a new partition on my computer put all of my data in there install vista on the old paritition install adobe and then install windows 7 and then copy all my data from the newly created partition into the old one and once I was done with that merge the partitions back together.Is this possible?Will my data be safe in the new partition?Does windows 7 even have the ability to create and merge partitions?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hb_Kai Posted March 5, 2009 Report Share Posted March 5, 2009 I know Vista has its own partition manager which can resize, create and delete partitions but I'm not sure about merging partitions whether it be the two Windows partitions or not. You're probably best to dual-boot the pair and use Adobe CS3 on Vista. It might mean having to re-boot a lot, but it's the best I can think of other than your idea. Windows 7 has been released for Beta testing, which means it should only be used for testing how it works and discovering problems and fixes which will then be used for the eventual real upgrade when it is released later this year.There's a number of Windows 7 fora (such as THIS ONE) where you can exchange information with other Windows 7 testers. As said above, it is still very much in the BETA stage, and is intended for use only by experts who are testing it out, and reporting on their findings.
