Hb_Kai
This isn't much of a problem at all as I'm pretty happy with how my laptop is running at the minute but am wondering just in case.Is it really necessary to update all of my drivers? Also, if it is, can someone recommend good software that tells me when they're out-dated? andsome
I can never understand some peoples fetish with updating drivers. If drivers work when the item is new, why should they suddenly stop working a couple of years down the line and need updating? :D
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I have been using http://www.drivermax.com/ successfully for quite a while now. Not all suggested driver updates are always 100% right, but it offers you driver backups so that you can anytime revert to the previous driver. Hb_Kai
But is it really necessary? I've seen some reviews on driver updates and they say that some make maybe the graphics load faster or whatever - maybe it's not the case with my graphics driver but - might still be useful. Thanks anyway. I may give that software a try. :)
-pops-
I've had to sort out loads of disasters caused by people unnecessarily updating - especially of drivers and more especially those that Microsoft frequently suggest. There is an adage with which you may be familiar:If it ain't broke, don't fix it.Never was this more true than with computers. Hb_Kai
Hear hear. :DWhat does that even mean?
andsome
Hear hear. :DWhat does that even mean? Surely you have heard the expression hear hear when someone has made a statement, and you wish to show agreement with that statement? :D

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
But is it really necessary? No, it is not necessary. However, I simply couldn't sleep knowing that I had stale, outdated software or drivers on my computer!I know, sometimes there is no real advantage installing new drivers; e.g. Intel frequently issues new network or graphics drivers just to support new models. However, sometimes there is new functionality and/or bugfixes, and those I wouldn't miss. The same, b.t.w. is true for BIOS updates. But if you do it, it's your responsibility. Hb_Kai
I see. I'll check on what's new with the updates first before downloading it then. :)I'll also use DriverMax for this. Thanks Pat.
