jay
I would like to upgrade my ATI radeon 128mb card. I can buy a 512MB ATI X1650 PRO HD AGP GRAPHICS VIDEO CARDfor around £50. Would this be an OK swap, and what checks should I make eg power supply?
Alan2273
Hi Jay, to answer your question we need some information about what is in your computer and what size PSU you have at the moment. If you are unsure of your components, install this program and it will tell you.http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php

I have installed PC Wizard (Very useful) Have not found size of PSU yet but will have another go when I have more time. I am in the process of installing 3- 1gb memory (maximum for my PC)Processor is AMD Athalon XP2600+
Boris
Your PSU size will not be detected by PC Wizard. There will be a label on it giving the model name/number which you should be able to see if you look inside your case.
Alan2273
Well spotted Boris, I forgot to say he will need to take the side of his case to find out to find out the wattage of the PSU.Now you have PCWizard you can put your components into a PSU calculator which will tell you roughly what size PSU you need.http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngineWhen you load the URL, click on Tools, Extreme calculator, Lite version, then fill the boxes in and click Calculate. In the meantime I have read that the 512MB ATI X1650 PRO I was thinking about is prone to overheating. Can anyone suggest other cards, similar price £50ish. I can get PNY GeForce 6200 AGP 8X 256MB Verto Graphics Card for around £35. Does it matter that the card memory is DDR2 and my PC memory is DDR? Sorry if this sounds naive but I'm no expert.
