Remarkable investment in Linux by Bill Gates

In a surprising move, given that Microsoft are preparing Windows 7 right now, the company's co-founder has revealed that he is giving personal financial support to a brand new Linux distribution. Entitled Tishllub Linux, the new distribution is set to be one of the largest of its type seen to date. The early estimates suggest that the download file for the soon-to-be-released version 1.0 will be in the region of 9GB, and the installation itself will require at least 14GB of hard disk space which is almost as big as Microsoft Vista 32.

It's unclear just why so much space will be required, although Gates is understood to be bundling in a series of Tishllub applications by default. Furthermore, the new distro is believed to have been struggling for compatibility with other commercial software, which has delayed its release.

Gates is rumoured to be pumping as much as $500 into the project in order to have a large presence in the Linux community. You can look forward to a full release in about 3 months time.
