Strange Program starting up upon Startup

Following one of our staff downloading installing one of these "Watch TV on your PC" programs we have a problem.

At the end of the day Sophos picked up the TV prog as being adware and it was uninstalled but since then every time the PC is fired up it seems to automatically start up a prog which makes Internet Explorer open up new windows on it's own. These are usually ads for mainsteam companies (Interflora, Viking Direct etc)

The program that appears to be running is called ykquy.exe and if you do a search on this it appears in the Windows/Prefetch folder. (Usually with varying suffixes)

If you stop the process in Windows...it disappears and does not appear in any searches.

A full scan by Sophos picks up nothing.

It might not be critical but it's very annoying

Have you run any Anti Malware programs to try and get rid of it? Have you used C Cleaner to try the same? :D

A System Restore to a time before this occurred would help. Alternatively re-install from your backup.

It is always a good philosophy for business computers to be used exactly for that and not for staff entertainment. After all, they are being paid to work. A word with them may help stop this happening again - with a threat of dismissal if they don't comply.

Try removing unwelcome startup items with Startup Inspector.

To prevent this happening again the Administrator can severely restrict what other users can and cannot do (such as installing software). There's an introduction to the topic by Microsoft AT THIS LINK.
