Learning
I have set the power scheme to go into stand-by when left unattended for 10 minutes. It works for the first couple of times when I leave the computer to go to sleep. Sometimes I wake up and I still hear the computer . It always works when I click start, turn off computer, then click standby. Is it just the fan I am hearing ? Trying to save money on power ! andsome
As far as I know the fans will always run, mine do. :D
Dencandy
With Standby the main power users (hard disk, monitor) are switched off, but other components, like RAM, are on. You computer may be designed to keep the fan(s) on whenever it is live. Also the fans are usually linked to temperature monitors, so if the temperature goes up because some components are still on, the fan(s) will kick in.
