Wrinkledlion X
I have Windows XP. How can I replace the startup and shutdown sounds with those of Windows ME?
andsome
Start/Control panel/Sounds and Audio devices/Sounds/Start Windows/Browse. You can then past in whatever sounds are in the list. To put sounds into the list copy and paste them in. I use a clip from a Tchaikovsky ballet to open Windows, and a clip from Star trek to close down. I have found that only wave sounds work. :D
Wrinkledlion X
Okay, but where can I get the startup sound from ME? Could someone here email the wave file to me?

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Note that the ME sounds seem to be the same as Windows 2000.
-pops-
Just an idle comment:I find these electronic fanfares nothing but an irritation and, for as long as I can remember, one of the earliest operations on any of my machines has been to disable these sounds. andsome
It's all down to personal taste really. I love to hear the ballet start to Windows, and the close down with a voice saying"the requested function will require two hours to complete" is amusing. New e mail is greeted with Worf from Star Trek saying "Captain, incoming message". I suppose that I am really a kid at heart.

catgate
Didn't Caroline Spelman's nanny watch a lot of TV?
