Reinstalling Windows XP with a slight twist

My desktop has 4 SATA ports one of which has my DRW-2014L1 optical drive the other 3 SATA ports have an 80Gb, 300Gb, and 500Gb hard drives.

My problem is that I want to upgrade the 80Gb to a new 500Gb hard drive but the 80Gb has my OS, Windows XP. Im not worried about having to install all the Service Packs and Windows upgrades but having to reinstall all the games and programs I have that I might have lost my activation keys to is the hassle I dont want to bother with.

So my question is can I install Windows with all the updates on the new drive then copy the Registry files, and everything from the 80Gb C folder into the new 500Gb C folder. Turn off the computer unplug the 80Gb and have my computer boot back up allowing me to run everything like it was before i did the swap?

Hope this makes sense to everyone
