I was just looking for some help to understand and pick the best cable to use for wired internet, (router-computer). -pops- Posted June 14, 2009 Report Share Posted June 14, 2009 For standard router -> computer connection a CAT 5E patch cable is all you need - of a length suitable to you.No need to spend a lot but avoid the cheaper ones if you are thinking of doing a lot of connecting/disconnecting as the connector clips tend to become brittle and break after a lot of use.You must NOT use a crossover cable. This is for special computer to computer connection uses and will not work for the purposes you need.Wasn't a cable supplied with the router?
