Blank blue screen

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the blank blue screen which appears between the Welcome screen and the Desktop screen in Vista Home Premium. I have been running this operating system for about a week and the screen appeared a couple of days ago and lasts about a minute.

It may be whilst Windows is loading all of its startup programs.

Do you have a lot of programs loading at startup? As it's a new machine, I would think there are a number of items being added and at least some of those will be loading unless you have instructed otherwise.

Download Startup Inspector http://www.windowsstartup.com/download.php to see what is loading and if it is necessary. You can also stop unneeded programs starting with this software.

On my Vista machine which has only the minimum of programmes set to start up at boot time - the blank screen lasts about 15 seconds.

Same here.

I only have 5 entries ticked in MSCONFIG:

Thanks for the information. Reduced the number of start up items and blank screen is much shorter.
