Alan2273
Photoshop is made by Adobe, and you have to pay for that, but if you are on about the Windows plug in for Photoshop, then that is free.
catgate
If you are looking for a good free image/photo manipulator you could have a look at :-http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.htmlIt is an excellent tool and, in my opinion, the equal of Adobe Photoshop. Hb_Kai
I've never understood Gimp at all... Does it work on layers like Photoshop?Anyway. Adobe let you download a free 30 day trial of CS4 from their website which after you have to purchase it.So yes, it can be downloaded but it's not free forever. :(
Dencandy
Serif Photoplus is much cheaper than Adobe Photoshop, and they allow free downloads of their older versions: HERE. But read some reviews first to make sure it does what you want it to do.

But read some reviews first to make sure it does what you want it to do.My problem is I used to have an old pc Windows 98 and I had photoshop installed and I used to scan photos with no problem.I recently got a laptop and disposed of my old pc and when I came to scan a photo my scanner would'nt work, I don't have photoshop installed so I tried to download it but no luck, either I don't have the driver etc or there is something wrong with my scanner, whatever, I can't scan photos anymore

However, I put a machine together to try Linux, and stayed with it, but I kept my W98 machine running mainly for image manipulation. I played about with Gimp on the linux machine and found that it really was very similar to PSP and in many ways better, although It does look a bit different at the outset. Now all image work is done in Gimp and I like it better that the other two, and the M$ machine is only used if I want to use the internet when management is using the linux machine.
