ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I have just renewed my forum subscription - although I am was a staff member, I still like to contribute financially to this excellent institution on the Internet.I know... I should have gone to the post office, and sent my £10 by international money transfer; instead I chose the convenient way and used PayPal.Immediately after the transaction was completed, I returned to this forum and found myself a WF Subscriber, and all moderator privileges have evaporated!(Naturally I can no longer post in the Mods forum, so I have to post this publicly!) ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
It is, indeed. Since the PayPal payment process is interactive (embedded in this forum software), when complete, the forum automatically "upgrades" me to 'WF Subscriber'. But it does not take into account that previously I was a member of the 'WF Support' group, which of I am no longer...That would not have happened had I used the post office (and paid the ¥1,000 transfer charge). Dencandy
From my own experience, there seems to be about a 10-14 day delay between renewing the annual subscription & it being accepted by the Forum (hence the origin of the phrase "a funny thng happened to me on the way to the forum"). During that waiting time we seem to revert to our previous membership category. This causes enormous anxiety and the feeling that Chris no longer loves us. However, like a good mother, he always comes back and we get slotted back into the appropriate group. Back to sleeping peacefully again.
