Fyreman
ok well.....i seem to have a little "ad" program running somewhere. when one of the popups popped up i went to task manager...right clicked on it then went to process. and suprizingly enough it was csrss.exe....a very critical part of windows. something is taking advantage of that part of windows and sending me ad messages every hour telling me to go to some site to block the ads. wich i think is bulls***.can someone help me.i wish microsoft would fix this problembtw im running windows xp pro. Guest LB
to turn off the messenger service in XP Pro, go to control panel, select Administrative Tools and goto services, scroll down until you find Messenger, right click and select properties. Change the statrup type to disabled and click OK. Restart and hey presto Messenger stopped.I am not sure if this service utilises CRSS.exe though. Guest ellas
Disable Messenger service. You don't need to run adaware or any of those other programs >>If you don't know how...>>Control Panel > Adminstrative Tools > Services>>Right click on Messenger, click stop. Then right-click again, and select "Properites". >Select Startup type, and drop it down to "Disabled". Click Apply and you're done.>
