doug
This may be one for Pops. Have just noticed that my printer has started to leave smears on the printed page. Is there any way of cleaning it? It looks as though toner is getting onto the drum. Never had any bother before, even after re-filling the cartridge. Not sure where the manual is so any help would be welcome.
AlanHo
Out of curiosity I just took a look at your printer manual on the Samsung web site - support.downloads.Click hereIt says when print is smearing the inside of the printer needs cleaning as follows1 Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord, then waitfor the printer to cool.2 Open the front cover.3 Pull the toner cartridge out and remove it from the printer..4 Remove the manual tray by pulling it out.5 With a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe away any dust and spilledtoner from the toner cartridge area and the toner cartridgecavity.6 Locate the long strip of glass (LSU) inside the top of thecartridge compartment, and gently swab the glass to see ifdirt turns the white cotton black.7 Reinsert the manual tray, toner cartridge and close thecover. Make sure that the cover is securely closed. If it isnot firmly closed, printing errors may occur when you print.

-pops-
Comprehensive reply there from Alan. One thing I might ask: do you refill the cartridges, doug? If yes then it might help to replace it as they only have a limited refillable life. I had one give problems after three refills but then another went on for twelve or so before failing - giving symptoms similar to those you are getting. Anyway, the printer needed a good clean out in the way Alan describes.

doug
That seems to be fixing it chaps. May have to do it several times after a few prints as I can only access one part of the drum at a time. tried rotating the drum but didn't want to bust any thing. thanks for the assist.
