When I start up my laptop (windows vista home premium) I get this error...

"Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart in one minute."

I've looked this error up on google and there's a couple of results, not one of them heping in anyway whatsoever.

So I'm asking you kind folks to help me :)

Boot up holding down the F8 key.

Choose the Start in "safe mode with networking" option.

Download, install and update MalwareByte's Anti-malware

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Run the quick scan.

Let it clean all the malware it finds, then close MBAM, shut down and start as normal.

What I would do first is to try to find out more about the cause of this problem. To do that open Control Panel, then Performance & Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. This gives you basic information about everything that happens on your computer. Open each of the 4 items listed there one by one and look for any items with red crosses against them. Right click on these and make a note of what you are told.

Post back here the results.
