Welcome to the forum alocktbn. Do you know how to start in Safe Mode? Keep tapping F8 as your computer begins to boot and select the Safe Mode option on the screen that comes up. If this is successful you should be able to copy all your important data to a USB drive, then you can start to sort out the computer problem.

What message is shown on the blue screen?

yeah. i do know to start up in safe mode.. already try that several times. but still no use. still stuck on the same blue screen with the windows icon "the red, green, blue, yellow". cannot penetrate even using safe mode of all kind. there is no error message anyway. i just cannot go through that blue screen.

for the normal start up process,

1. the black screen showing windows xp loading

2. after that it will load to next blue screen with the welcome message.

3. after that we can see the desktop already.

but my pc right now will stuck at the step 2 and the welcome message will not come out but, will be replaced by microsoft windows icon in the middle of the blue screen.

and the problem is there. it will not going anywhere.

any other options???

Bare in mind that this does not apply to all computer. On mine I have to tap F5. Tapping F8 gives me a screen giving me options as to which drive to boot up from, either of the main hard drives or either of the DVD/CD drives. Hope you sort the problem. :D

Repair installation of XP will allow you to keep your current documents and applications intact but will reinstall Windows XP.

This is not the same as a format and reinstall of Windows XP and is a lot less time consuming.?

thanks Boris and everbody. i did manage to get into my pc after i repair the xp installation. i get all of my important files..

but most of my application eg: microsoft office, internet browser (ie & firefox), photoshop CS4, etc.. cannot run. nevermind for that i just can install it back.

i just concerned about my antivirus (avira premium suite security) 1 year license duration. if i format my HDD, is there anyway for me to get my avira antivirus license period (1 year) back??

thanks...
