Hb_Kai Posted October 8, 2009 Report Share Posted October 8, 2009 This is quite an annoying thing:When I'm listening to my music, loud like it should be and also trying to go through Facebook, emails, forums and Windows Live, my laptop begins to start running slow and applications will freeze to anything from 5 seconds to 20.The only way to make them stop hanging is by pausing the music - the other thing is when these programs are hanging, WinAmp doesn't. Ever.I checked task manager about this and Winamp is only using 30k, whereas Windows Live is using 37k and Flock, 167k on two websites. Why is this?Well I suspect Ohms law comes into play somewhere...it usually does.Basically you can not get a quart out of a pint pot. The only power available will be the battery output (I presume you are running on battery whilst plugged into the charger). If you are taking lots of those amp things and squandering them on sound, everything else may be unhappy. Well... that's what I think. I doesn't need to be higher because of the close proximity to the ear and if it is higher there is a danger of hearing damage - which happens anyway in some people who have their MP3 players too loud.On the other hand, a loudspeaker system consumes much, much more power with some of the sound systems of stage acts are measured in kilowatts (thousands of watts). I'm not suggesting your speaker setup is anything near that in power but, even small computer speaker sets can be measured in watts (rather than milliwatts) thus increased consumption of the battery and lack of power for other parts of your computer.
