Did a clean install to Windows 7 and lost Word

I'm hoping for some insight here to a very frustrating problem. I just did a clean install to Windows 7, and didn't realize that it would wipe out my Microsoft Office (I had the Student edition 2007). I have no idea what I did with my original CD/registration code. I spent an hour on the phone with Microsoft and they were absolutely useless.

I have the Windows.old folder on my hard drive with all the Office files in it, so I feel like there must be some way to restore these files onto Windows 7.

Also, if I do find my original Office CD, does anyone know if this counts toward one of the 3 uses of the code? Or does it count toward one of the previous uses since it's the same computer?

As long as it's the same PC it only counts as one installation, no matter how many times you reload it.

If you can't find the CD try OpenOffice it's free and will do pretty much anything you want.

Try this as an experiment..............

In the Windows.old folder, navigate to programs/microsoft Office/ Office 12/ winword.exe and double click on winword.exe.

If this opens Word (it does on my computer - but this may be because I have Office installed in Windows 7), then find the exe files for each program - Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc and send them to your desktop as a link.

It may not work because there may be registry entries missing - but is worth a try.

I assume you are aware that if you find your serial code for Office 2007 you can borrow a DVD of the same program and reinstall it OK.
