Upon start-up, it says SATA primary Drive 0 not found. Then strike F1 to continue, F2 to go to Setup. After striking F1 and the standard Dell symbol and the loading progress bar, it comes to...Disk I/O error: Status = 00008009Disk I/O error: Status = 00008008Then it says that windows 2000 could not boot because the specified file <windows 2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe is either missing or corrupt.I am computer literate enough to get by day to day, but I am not computer savvy. Hence, my need for assistance. Does anyone know what this means and where I need to start to fix it, or should I just pull an 'Office Space' on it in the middle of a field? Any help would be great. pa1916 Posted November 3, 2009 Report Share Posted November 3, 2009 It's better if you do a clean install this is a pain with Windows 2000 you will require the Windows 2000 setup disk and you will require your mobo driver disk,it would have helped you if you had a W2000 repair floppy disk,there will be at least 75 updates to download to.As windows 2000 has only 7 months or so left before it comes to the end of it's days is it worth it.??One more point i would have thought a SATA DRIVE would have been on CH2 NOT CH0 but this is not always the case.
