Hi,

I recently installed Windows 7 on my PC, it crashed very often and was very unstable.. So i rainstalled Windows 7, but.. Same story.

Well, now i've just formatted my PC and installed windows xp, it didn't take long for the firste crash to occur, i did install updates, but 20 out of 70 updates from windows update failed..

I could keep formatting, but my pc's still unstable..'

How to fix?

Yes that sounds like a hardware problem.

Make sure the RAM is seated properly.

If you still have problems and you have 2 sticks of RAM, take out one at a time to see if either of them is causing the problems.

Did Event Viewer give you any indication of what caused the crashes in both O/S versions ?

Yes, I agree with what others have written. It's a waste of time to keep trying to re-format the hard disk and to re-install the operating system as you seem to have some hardware problems. If the computer is less than 1 year old it should still be covered by warranty or buyers' rights (unless you bought it second hand), so return it to the vendor.
