Mathias Posted December 1, 2009 Report Share Posted December 1, 2009 Hi,I recently installed Windows 7 on my PC, it crashed very often and was very unstable.. So i rainstalled Windows 7, but.. Same story.Well, now i've just formatted my PC and installed windows xp, it didn't take long for the firste crash to occur, i did install updates, but 20 out of 70 updates from windows update failed..I could keep formatting, but my pc's still unstable..'How to fix? Boris Posted December 1, 2009 Report Share Posted December 1, 2009 Yes that sounds like a hardware problem.Make sure the RAM is seated properly.If you still have problems and you have 2 sticks of RAM, take out one at a time to see if either of them is causing the problems.Did Event Viewer give you any indication of what caused the crashes in both O/S versions ? It's a waste of time to keep trying to re-format the hard disk and to re-install the operating system as you seem to have some hardware problems. If the computer is less than 1 year old it should still be covered by warranty or buyers' rights (unless you bought it second hand), so return it to the vendor.
