timmo Posted December 7, 2009 Author Report Share Posted December 7, 2009 Now it's got far worse. I accidentaly deleted my account name and now I've lost everything I've ever done. What can I do to get access to all my work again? Don't tell me to type in my old account name - I've tried that and it asks me to create a new password and when I get in, all my stuff is still gone. The old account name was put in by the people in the shop and I never had a password before, I just used to click on my name and it worked. I looked at Recuva, but I havn't deleted any files, they are all there in the HDs but I can't gain access to them. There must be some simple way to reactivate my old account? I know the name of it (my name), and it had no password before, or if it did I didn't know about it and it never asked me for it. How do I do it? timmo Posted December 8, 2009 Author Report Share Posted December 8, 2009 thanks for the reply - I'm afraid it didn't work - a small black window appeared for about 1/6 second and disappeared again. The wierd thing is some of my stuff like images of movies and word documents can be found if I look in C, but other stuff like My Music and Cubase files are unavailable, and all my settings for audio inputs etc are gone. The thing is I've now found that there are 2 users listed with my name, one is the new one which is useless, and the other is the old one which I can't get to work. Because they both have the same name I don't know how to distinguish between them, except the new one has lots of letters and numbers after it. That will bring back all as it was before - including the deleted user account.After that we will look in more detail what you should do to achieve your auto login. When I look at it the latest 2 available dates to restore to are 4 Dec and 7 Dec. I don't really want to go back as far as 4 Dec because I may lose some changes I made to my film, but 7 Dec (yesterday)may do, but will it restore to the start of yesterday or the end because I made this error yesterday afternoon (I'm in England so it's 8 Dec now) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

timmo Posted December 8, 2009 Author Report Share Posted December 8, 2009 I did a system restore and it worked brilliantly with only a couple of tiny glitches (one of which is in my video software (Premiere Pro) the project wont play, it keeps stopping, but I'll sort it out),so now I'm back to the original question: how do I make the computer log on automaticaly without asking me to click my user name?
