frustrateduser
Well, I still can't install all programs or updates. I can get some, but not all. But, now the problem I need help with is that I can't seem to burn anything. When I put in a blank DVD it just seems to try to scan it forever and it never acknoleges that there is anything there. It also doesn't show up as # of free GB on the burn program. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
andsome
I am no expert, but it sounds to me as though it's time for a format and re installation of the Operating system. :D
Hb_Kai
Drivers installed and/or working? Check devmgmt.msc to make sure they're working if you have installed any. What was the original problem?
frustrateduser
Yup, tried that. Drivers are all a go...
catgate
Take the side off your box (I presume it is a box and not a laptop) and, after switching off. give the inside a really good dedusting, blow it out with air. Then check all the cables and sticks of memory are well seated in their appropriate places. Then try again. If that fails try another CD/DVD drive in it.

fmw
If I were troubleshooting it I would start by deleting and reinstalling the burning software. If that failed, I would sub a new DVD drive. Of course, that isn't an issue for me because I have a stock of them. For you, perhaps you can borrow one from someone else's computer for a short while to test it.
