But for some reason Windows isn't detedting my second hard drive (its a partition). The second drive was even formated to NTFS at the same time as the drive that Windows is running on. It was a matter of selecting to unhide empty drives and then giving the drive a name.The thing is before installing Windows i formated the second drive to NTFS as well, but i didn't think at the time that it would cause me to loose the data. Or is it quite tricky/arquad?Hi Ruthy.I formatted a 500GB disk full of data the other week by mistake, and managed to get all the data back - no losses.Very first thing, do not try to write any new files to the disk. Just leave that partition completely alone.I used "Easeus File Recovery" others here have their favourites such as "RECUVA". I have never used that so cant comment. You are going to need free space somewhere other than the disk you are using to recover the data too. (External Hard Drive perhaps ?)Easeus are doing their product for free at the moment. Download is **HERE**I found that "Easeus" got all data back, and in the original folders. Other recovery software doesn't always do this.Let us know how you get on.John. I've looked through it and think it would take allot of time to get it all sorted out.
