It's certainly not a feature of XP, but I don't know about Vista or Windows 7.Does it occur in both Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer (the service that controls browsing within your own files when not accessing the internet)? What file/folder names show up in the little box? Is it the one you are looking at, the next one up, the next one down, or is it a file/folder completely unrelated?Also, have you tried doing a System Restore to a time before this annoyance started?
