Problem with window update

Hello everyone,

I have this problem, everytime I try to update my windows vista home premium, I get this error 80072EFD. I already read others topic about it and all of them say that is a firewall's blocking my update, I checked it and acturally in my firewall list there are Windows Firewall and Norton Internet Security, but the odd things is I never installed NIS and it's not in my software list, I don't know how I can uninstall it. Could somebody

help me? I really don't know how I can do it! Thanks!

Hi Boris, thank you for you answer, but unluckly I've already read the windows report about this mistake and yesterday I also used the software that you suggested me and I removed the Norton Internet security from my firewall list, but the problem continues to be, could be it a virus? My Avira Antivirus doesn't find any virus, from since days I've got also a problem with Google.co.uk and google.it, any time that I try clicking on a link of their searching result firefox or IE opens another tab with another website's not mathing with the one on the link result, strange, isn't it? That problem doesn't exist with google.com. Can these say you something to help me? Thank you.

Regarding the first issue in red above, unfortunately, even after using the official Norton removal tool, the Security Centre, sometimes still registers that the Norton firewall or ant-virus is still there, when in fact it isn't (this occurs due to an item Norton inserts in the Windows registry). It's an annoyance but you can probably safely ignore it if your current anti-virus records no problems. However, to make sure, I suggest you run a free comprehensive on-line scanner. One of the best is from ESET/NOD32: ESET SCANNER.

Regarding the 2nd item in red, it could be that your browsers have been hijacked, so I suggest you check out this advice from Microsoft: MS BROWSER PROTECTION.

Please post back the results of these checks.

Unluccly I can open eset.com website, Firefox says "Unable to connect" and idem for all the download.microsoft.com, what's going on? This time time I can't see any ohter chance expect a big format c:! Please help me, I don't want it!!!

When I was unfortunate to have a fouled up Norton installation some years ago it was that difficult to uninstall that they put a techie onto helping me. It took four removal tools and manual editing of the registry to get rid of that rubbish, and enable me to install another AV program. Even then, I had the occasional pop up from Norton asking me to update. I finally reinstalled windows to get rid of it. Can you reinstall Windows?

You didn't have an email recently purporting to be from Facebook (or similar) telling you about an updated password, by any chance?

The effects you are experiencing are very similar to some odd behaviour I have seen on machines that have had, and opened, this rogue email.
