Addresses in address bar

Hi all I have a problem. How come everytime I log on to my computer after have shutting it down the addresses that I typed in my address bar disapear? I know alot of people want to clear their history..I want the opposite. I want those addresses to stay in the address bar so I don't always have to type them in or go to my favorites. I hope someone can help?

Which browser are you using ?

Firefox 3 ? IE7 ? IE8 ? Chrome ?

Which OS ?

I just had my computer fixed because of a virus and everything had to be reinstalled. Im at work now, but I'm pretty sure it's IE7.

Go to tools internet options/general/browsing history/settings and change it to never

Changed it to never, restarted the computer and still nothing..the addresses disappeared from the address bar again.

You don't run a tool like CCleaner on a regular basis?

It's weird because my Firefox browser works great and does keep the addresses in the bar.

It must be a security setting in IE, I don't use it (I always use FF) so I would suggest you look through the settings in options and see if you can find one that is causing the problem.

I do use FF on my laptop but this is my home computer and my father is such a creature of habit..technology is not his forte and he's just recently started to master the 'internets'...lol! I'm trying to slowly get him to use FF. I will try to look in the options again and see if I missed anything.

A few years back I had the same problem - it turned out to be other software - possibly Norton at fault. After uninstalling whatever software it was (can't remember) the problem was cured.

Do you have any software installed that might be regularly cleaning your system at shut down....?

I had BitDefender on the computer so I unistalled that, but still my addresses were being erased when I re-started. The only other thing I have on the computer I can think of is Spybot S&D, could it be that is the problem?
